ARMed-HARMONY
Description of work
This work package will evaluate current infection control policies
and practices in the Mediterranean partner countries through the
use of structured questionnaires.
- Participants will
be requested to provide feedback on current knowledge of hospital-acquired
infection (HAI) surveillance and infection control policies, personnel
and practices in their individual countries by means of a questionnaire.
- HARMONY questionnaire
tools will be adopted based, on the information received, to
- describe the
current national guideline and policy development processes
in each country
- examine the
applicability of "bottom-up" produced central line
and urinary catheter guidelines
- explore common
documentation of certain types of information to increase
the potential for added value of surveillance of antimicrobial
resistance, device-related infection
- increase the
knowledge underpinning other activities e.g. typing and organism
databases
- develop a
tabular approach to documenting the antimicrobial resistant
organism outbreak control guidelines in the participating
countries.
- evaluate antibiotic
policies and process control in the participating countries.
- After the questionnaires
have been discussed and finalised, data will be collected by month
25. and analysed. The results will be presented to the participant
countries and appropriate tools for policy design will be finalised.
A workshop on infection prevention & control will be also
be organised.
- Results, guidelines
and tools developed will be posted in the ARMed website and data
fed back to the appropriate healthcare workers
